There have been a lot of discussions about what would make up the perfect woman. Often, we look at items from our lives that may give us an indication, and Barbie may be one of them.
If you really get down to it, Barbie’s proportions are way out of line with what any woman would want to be. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t those who look like her in some way or another, and they can do well when they do.
Such is the case with Nyadok Thot, an Australian-Sudanese model, who is usually called Duckie. When she started showing up on Twitter, she went viral for obvious reasons.
The 28-year-old model was born in Melbourne, Australia to Sudanese parents. Her real name is a tribal name but the nickname was given to her in school later in life because nobody could seem to pronounce her name properly.
Her sister, who was also a model and is active on YouTube introduced her to the catwalk. She knew that she had potential, so she moved to New York City, began looking for modeling jobs, and even enrolled in Australia’s Next Top Model competition.
Eventually, she was able to debut at the Kanye West Fashion Week, and she is doing quite well. She is also known as the Black Barbie because of her beautiful skin and she is building up quite a portfolio in the industry.
Included in her portfolio is being an ambassador for L’Oreal Paris. Some of the other models that preceded her included Jane Fonda, Bianca Balti, and others.
She hopes that she can do her part in the fashion world by making it more diverse. She is an advocate for inclusivity and says there are still some areas in the fashion world where attention is needed.
It’s interesting to see how well she is doing in such a short amount of time. Given her beauty and her beautiful skin, it is likely that she will go far.
